Why See Working?

Studs Terkel's Award-winning Working Comes to The Meadow Brook Theatre

Studs Terkel's famous book Working was a best selling compilation of interviews from American workers in the 1970s and depicted the everyday lives of people working various jobs in the United States. It went on to be adapted for Broadway, dazzling audiences and going on to receive six Tony Award nominations. Spring 2020 sees Rochester's Meadow Brook Theatre presents the musical, adapted by Steven Schwartz and Nina Faso, including new songs from Lin Manuel Miranda, James Taylor, Craig Carnella and more!

The book delves into the worlds of a range of American workers including school teachers, waitresses, phone operators, millworkers and housewives whose working lives span the Great Depression to the early 21st century.
